JOAO PAULO PEREIRA
Age:26

Yoga Style: Swasthya Yoga. It's also called the ancient yoga and embraces mudra, puja, mantra, pranayama, kriya, yoganidra, and dhyana, among other techniques.
Practicing since: 1999.
Teaching: Joao gives regular classes for all levels at the Yoga & Cultura Studio in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and at local gyms, hotels, and private classes in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French.  He has been a resident docent of Yoga & Cultura's teacher training course since 2002, and frequently leads workshops in pranayama, asana, kriya and mantra.  He also heads quality-of-life-in-the-workplace programs.
Yoga offers me: Self-discovery, well-being and the possibility of making the world a better place to live in.
Other interests: Joao is the lead singer of Samadhi Roots, a band in which he blends asana performances with the sacred and powerful melodies of hindu mantras, rock n' roll, reggae and brazilian rhythms.  He is also completing his degree in film making and has much interest in sharing his work with others cultures.
Future agenda: workshops and a teacher training course in La Paz, Bolivia (2nd half of 2008); asana workshops in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro (October, 2008); asana, kriya, mantra and pranayama workshops in San Diego, California (late 2009).
