House dancers practice self-expression through music... Fun! Dancing has been a huge part of my life and my spiritual practice. I believe it is a great tool that helps us tap into the unconscious. When I dance I experience the spontaneous part of me... The body moves the way it wants to move moment to moment...The mind and the body are completely present... The senses are awakened (I feel my feet touching the ground, I listen and absorb the music...) I have been fascinated by the ability certain kinds of sounds/music can trigger that feeling more so than other kinds and very curious as to why that is.... I have noticed for example, that electronic music (house, deep soulful house, trance..) really have the power to put me in a certain zone. In this zone I experience... - a deep sense of gratitude - a powerful need to move my body - a fluidity... the movements unfold without much effort - a feeling of being in communion with something greater (like a a form of prayer and meditation) - great joy - body heat - different body sensations - a feeling of deeper connection to others on the dancefloor and out of it - an ability to surrender - emotions Along with yoga, bodywork, shadow work, critical thinking, meditation, education (reading and studying works, approaches, ideas that inspire and feel true to me), music and dancing are other powerful tools that support my spiritual growth and transformation. I like this video because watching these guys dance felt like watching playful kids... not that these people are kids but the idea is that they are so having fun with this, so in the moment, so emerged in the music, expressing themselves through their body...each in their own unique way.Just watching the makes me feel like dancing! Enjoy!
